Bending the truth about gender

This is a bit old now but still worthy of mention. Two weeks ago the European Parliament published an internal guidance note for its staff drawing up reports and translators about how to use gender neutral language and the pitfalls not to fall into etc.

Well as both Labour MEPs Richard Corbett and Glenis Willmott pick up on , the way the eurosceptic press completely and dishonestly distorted the truth is shameful. Suddenly the European Parliament had banned the use of the words Mrs and Miss across the EU! It really was laughable.

Shame on you Simon Johnson from the Telegraph, the Daily Mail, and the Daily Star. Your false display of indignance and outrage are yet another example of why you never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Bruno Waterfield - what is this rubbish?

Interesting that Bruno Waterfield's Telegraph blog this week has sunk to new depths. He brings attention to a pretty mediocre information promotional video for jobs in the EU civil service. That much is OK - it is mediocre. However the main point of his post is that somehow these career opportunities are for 'them', not 'us'. Of course any Brits can apply who want to. I suspect Bruno is just stirring things to the tune of his own eurosceptic agenda.

Even better for a chuckle was a comment on the post that the requirement to speak at least two European languages was discriminatory and clearly designed to keep the English out of 'the corridors of power'!

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I have one simple aim. To expose the lies and distortions of the eurosceptic British press and total lack of debate about all things European Union related.

I am no blind follower or unquestioning advocate of the EU in its current form. I believe there is much room for reform. However, I am simply disgusted with the lack of debate and ridicule invented by lazy and downright hostile journalists, willing to sacrifice their own journalistic integrity in pursuit of their dubious political agendas.
